It can be from any department within the store – produce, meat counter, bakery, shelf/pantry product, or frozen department. You will spend time researching how that item is preserved and its journey from creation (whether farm or factory) to the store shelf.

In a well written discussion post, address the following questions:

• How is the food treated prior to arriving on the store shelf?
• Does it contain preservatives to help sustain shelf-life?
• What types of microorganisms is it at risk for?
• How should the consumer handle the food item once they take it home from the store?
