Reason for choice
I chose this particular career path because number one it is not too far from my home location. I like the school because I had a cousin who attended college there and the fact that it offered an assistant in the child development aspect of school of which is my first file of study at Ashford University. The position will allow me the training opportunity that can lead to a position that I will be able to do as a leader after so many hours/years of working as an assistant. I have to start somewhere. Working with children is what I love to do and I think I am pretty good at it, due to the fact that many youths within my neighborhood have come to me for advice that they could not get at home. They respect me and I respect them, and it has been a great experience thus far, which is why I chose Child Development studies in the first place. My experience that I feel will get me in the door is first I have receiver professional schooling. More so, I think through years of personal interaction with children and working with the public in a large way will help me to communicate on a higher level that just coming into a situation with just schooling.
My skills also include: computer, high level of cognitive thinking ability, very good listener, schooling in not only psychology in the BA capacity but MA as well, BA in Child Development, and the fact that I am a well-rounded individual the ability to work in a highly stressful environment. When it comes to social psychology use within this filed of work, I will be able to have a greater understanding of how and why people behave a certain way, think, react, and the ability to communicate with individuals that can calm behavior issues by using all of what I have learned under the field of social psychology studies. According to the website, there was nothing extra listed under the job title that constitute a need for more training or certificates to be obtained. I guess because of the job being an assistant position. Qualifications will also include: maintenance of learning through attending seminars and reading on child development updates after completing my schooling, knowledge of human developments as a whole that include stages of development from infancy to adulthood, and the learning of life’s developments that continues until death…according to Baltes (1987).

The three potential career paths that someone with a masters in psychology could pursue.
Director of Human Resources
Department of Juvenile Justice Psychologist
After visiting the listings of potential careers, at HigherEd.Jobs, Juju, and Online Psyuchology Career Center, the career path that I am interested in would be a Veteran’s Administration Clinical Psychologist.
Explain what drew you to this career.
I was drawn to wanting to pursue this career from frequent visits I had made to the Veterans Administration clinic in Dublin, Georgia, with a family member and seeing there is a great need for the veterans to have an advocate to help them achieve the resources available to them through the Veteran Administration that they would not know existed without having someone in place to counsel them of their available resources. Another reason I selected the career of a clinical psychologist would be to counsel veterans who are dealing with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), live a life as normal as possible.
Explain the existing skills you have that will serve you well in this career.
The existing skills I have that will serve me well in this career is being a good listener, compassion for others, having a psychology minor, able to get along well with others, and since I have a family member who suffers from PTSD and severe depression, whom I have been caring for since 2012, and taking him back and forth to the Veterans Administration for counseling, I have learned a lot about the different ways to deal with clients who needs counseling.
Explain how you will use social psychology in this career
I would use social psychology in this career to share with the clients to make them feel comfortable enough to share their feelings and expressions so that I would be able to counsel them in the needed areas.
Evaluate whether you will be qualified for this job after completing this master’s degree. If not, what additional steps would you need to take to become qualified?
Based on the information found in Juju online to qualify to apply for the career of a Veteran’s Administration Clinical Psychologist, you must have a doctoral degree in psychology, license, registration, and certification.
