or (2) Preventing Negative Communications Dynamics: Face & Defensiveness

Without using the same specific examples from the slides or textbook, please discuss (in 250-350 words) three situations where you used or saw the use of three different Tools that reduced Defensiveness or saved Face. You could use examples where Gibb’s Categories were used (e.g., Using Descriptive language instead of Evaluation) or where Communications Spirals occurred (e.g., Positive vs Negative, and Escalatory vs De-escalatory).

Be sure to explain each specific concept you’ve chosen (e.g., Gibb’s Category of Descriptive vs Evaluative language) and relate it to each situation you are describing. One different Tool for each of the three different situations. Feel free to make up fictional examples if that is easier.

Be sure to explain each Strategy you’ve chosen and relate it to each situation you are describing. One different Strategy for each of the three different situations. Feel free to make up fictional examples if that is easier.
